When you lay down at the end of the day –\u00a0when all the work is done, when the kids are grown up and on their own, when the world is ok and no one needs you to fix problems or find solutions, when all the hungry are fed and needy taken care of, when Sunday comes and you sit in your favorite spot and just exist\u00a0<\/i>–\u00a0who are you?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Who are you underneath the roles you play, without your possessions and achievements?<\/span><\/p>\n Who are you beyond your personality?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What answer comes up when you reflect on this question and dig deep?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I have always been fascinated with this – even when I was very little. I\u2019d close my eyes and try to \u2018see myself.\u2019 Maybe that\u2019s why I didn\u2019t stay a \u2018pop star\u2019 for too long – because I realized the \u2018who I was to millions of people\u2019 wasn\u2019t the entire me.<\/span><\/p>\n I was too young to know how to let my \u2018true self\u2019 show up or what it all meant.<\/span><\/p>\n Maybe my curiosity about who we truly are is what has made my spiritual journey so intense\u2026 always trying to remove the parts of me that were preventing me from experiencing God\u2019s grace and love, and reconnecting with the part of me that was already, deeply, and completely loved by God. Maybe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I am still fascinated by that question\u2026 and the more I learn (or rediscover, or remember) the more it fascinates me. \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n This past year taught me about who I am when I\u2019m not performing and touring. It taught me\u00a0how I am, what I miss and why, what other ways I can find to fill my soul\u2019s desire (that music fulfills) to connect with others and offer healing, joy, and inspiration.<\/span><\/p>\n Even though I LOVE what I do, it doesn\u2019t make me who I am. I learned that I can be happy, at peace, and have a sense of purpose\u00a0even without performing<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019ve noticed a lot of people are experiencing this in some way.
