I allowed them to rest after school and on the weekends (by not putting more responsibilities on them) and made a nutritious meal each day to replenish their energy and their souls.

Recently, I read a few articles and watched a TEDx talk by Stanford University psychologist Kelly McGonigal and author of “The Willpower Instinct.” Here are a few of her tips on willpower and self-discipline:

Self-discipline is driven by willpower. And willpower is fuelled by motivation (not instant gratification).

Self-awareness is an important tool for working on your willpower and motivation.

Give yourself permission to take small steps rather than think that there’s an ideal you need to reach.

Have a support system that will keep you motivated.

Stress, sleep deprivation and feeling guilty will kill your willpower. Reorganize your environment to reduce stress and reward yourself (as long as it doesn’t conflict with your goal).

Have self-compassion and forgive yourself when you lapse. Then, reconnect with your goal and motivation behind it and keep going.

Hope this inspires you!

Now, enjoy a restful weekend and replenish yourself before you get back to your disciplined and driven work week 🙂

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”on” _builder_version=”3.0.98″]
[/et_pb_divider][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row background_color=”rgba(0,0,0,0.1)” _builder_version=”3.0.98″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”connect with me” _builder_version=”3.0.98″]

CONNECT WITH ME

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_code _builder_version=”3.0.98″ text_orientation=”center” custom_margin=”|||370px”][et_social_follow icon_style=”flip” icon_shape=”rounded” icons_location=”top” col_number=”auto” outer_color=”dark”][/et_pb_code][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.0.98″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_code _builder_version=”3.0.98″][inf_infusionsoft_inline optin_id=”optin_5″][/et_pb_code][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.0.98″ custom_padding=”7px|0px|49px|0px”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.0.98″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.98″ text_font_size=”18px” background_layout=”light”] “My theme for this year is discipline, so any words of encouragement on that would be appreciated” – Linda Every morning, my kids (the two still at home — the oldest is in college) wake up at 5:45 a.m., get ready for […]

[11

post-1550","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog
["GET
